Caroline Murphy practices with the firm's Immigration Law Group. She focuses her practice on all aspects of business immigration and investment immigration, as well as family-based immigration.


For her business immigration practice, Caroline represents companies across all industries in various stages of growth. She has expertise in advising startups entering the U.S. market as well as mid-size and large businesses seeking to employ foreign talent. She frequently counsels startups in accelerator programs on scaling strategy from an immigration perspective.

Caroline advises on a wide range of immigration matters including:

  • Visa strategies for entrepreneurs including E-2, L-1, O-1 and H-1B

  • Employment-based nonimmigrant visa processing for employees and individuals of extraordinary ability including E-1, E-2, E-3, H-1B, H-1B1, H-3, J-1, L-1A, L-1B, O-1, P-1 and TN

  • Comprehensive corporate immigration strategy relating to employees in nonimmigrant status, talent acquisition and retention

  • Permanent residence through employment or company investment

  • Ongoing corporate advice relating to immigration repercussions of mergers, acquisitions or IPO.

Caroline also counsels human resources professionals, business owners and general counsel on all aspects of immigration compliance and worksite enforcement. This includes preventative measures including I-9 audits, training and H-1B policy review as well as representation during I-9 and H-1B audits.

A member of the firm's EB-5 immigration practice, Caroline has worked with offshore investors in both direct investment and regional center petitions, and has counselled individual EB-5 investors on Source of Funds, Path of Funds, OFAC and other requirements. She has also advised Regional Centers and developers seeking to use EB-5 capital in their projects.

Caroline is from Dublin, Ireland, and received her LL.B. in Law & French from Trinity College Dublin, during which she also obtained a Certificate at Sciences Po Paris. She obtained her Barrister-at-Law degree from The Honorable Society of King’s Inns in Dublin, and is admitted to practice at the Bar of Ireland and New York. She speaks French.
