Joseph A. Dickson, U.S.M.J. (retired)

Member Roseland, NJ

The Honorable Joseph A. (“Drew”) Dickson, a former Federal Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, focuses his practice on bringing closure to disputes in a timely, efficient and discrete manner through mediation and arbitration.

During his tenure as a Federal Magistrate Judge, Drew oversaw an expansive scope of Federal court litigation in areas including intellectual property, antitrust, creditors’ rights, and class action. Prior to joining the bench, he spent 30 years in private practice where he focused on complex litigation. He served as lead trial counsel in numerous cases and administrative proceedings in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and other jurisdictions.

Judge Dickson draws upon this wealth of experience when collaborating with attorneys across the firm’s family law, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, trusts and estates, intellectual property, antitrust, class action and employment areas in alternative dispute resolutions. Further, he maintains a robust Federal litigation practice and is a trusted advisor to clients faced with complex discovery issues as a Court-appointed discovery master.

Judge Dickson is a graduate of New York University and Seton Hall Law School, where he was a published member and Managing Editor of the Seton Hall Law Review. He has lectured on a variety of topics at Continuing Legal Education Seminars and has been a guest lecturer at Seton Hall University Law School.
