CSG's Arrabito Tapped for NJSBA Cannabis Law Committee
James S. Arrabito, an Associate with Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC’s (“CSG”) Environmental Group, has been appointed as a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s (“NJSBA”) Cannabis Law Committee, which brings together attorneys representing legal disciplines across the State’s bar to examine the many legal issues – from civil to business to criminal – stemming from medical and consumer access to cannabis.
In his practice, James focuses on a range of matters relating to environmental regulation and litigation under federal and state law. As the environmental representative on CSG's Cannabis Law team, James' practice also involves providing regulatory counsel on environmental issues of emerging concern for New Jersey and New York-based cannabis producers and cultivators – including waste disposal practices, compliance with local air quality standards, soil and water contamination, and the environmental aspects of production and retail facility siting.
In his role with the NJSBA’s newly formed Cannabis Law Committee, James will draw from his burgeoning practice to support the Committee’s range of activities and objectives, which include reviewing legislation and making recommendations to the NJSBA’s Board of Trustees; suggesting amicus advocacy positions; informing discussions on Court Rules and other matters that pertain to the regulation of attorneys; and creating continuing legal education for attorneys to learn more about this burgeoning field, among other activities.
