CSG's Emehelu and Holt Recognized Among ROI-NJ 2021 Influencers: People of Color

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (“CSG”) congratulates Shirley U. Emehelu and Jason Holt for being named among ROI-NJ’s 2021 Influencers: People of Color List – a recognition of New Jersey’s most impactful and influential people of color.

ROI-NJ credits Shirley in her capacity as Chair of CSG’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee with “advancing efforts to expand the firm’s pro bono, training and development programs.” Helping to implement a myriad of internal initiatives and external partnerships, she has been a central figure in keeping CSG’s nearly 300 employees unified around the key values of diversity, equity and inclusion over the course of the firm’s remote work experience.

Shirley, who joined CSG after an almost decade-long career as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, where she served as Chief of Asset Recovery and Anti-Money Laundering, is a Member of the firm’s Litigation Group and co-leader of the Banking & Finance Group, with her practice focusing on complex commercial litigation, financial regulatory compliance, white collar defense, corporate and government investigations, and asset recovery.

The publication notes Jason’s relaying of “more than two decades’ worth of experience in private practice and in municipal leadership roles in New Jersey into his intimate involvement with organizations leading the charge on DEI changemaking across the state.” He currently serves on the Board of Trustees, and chairs the Diversity Committee, of the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys; chairs the Legal Redress Committee of the NAACP Oranges and Maplewood Chapter; and is an active member of the Newark YMCA’s Diversity & Inclusion Task Force.

Jason’s career path – which has included stops in Atlantic City as Business Administrator charged with overseeing the City’s economic recovery; East Orange as Corporation Counsel, where he played a pivotal role as advisor to the City’s Police Department in the enhancement of policing techniques; and Essex County as Director of Affirmative Action – undoubtedly informs his real estate and environmental practice at CSG, where he is also a leading voice on the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
