CSG's Della Fera Among NJSBA's 2021 Pro Bono Award Recipients
Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (“CSG”) announced today that Sam Della Fera, Jr., Co-Chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Group, was named by the New Jersey State Bar Association’s (“NJSBA”) Pro Bono Committee as its 2021 Individual Attorney Pro Bono Award recipient. Sam received the award during a virtual ceremony held on October 18, 2021.
For nearly 20 years, drawing from his corporate bankruptcy practice, Sam has served Volunteer Lawyers for Justice (“VLJ”) on a pro bono basis helping its staff and other pro bono attorneys in assisting the VLJ’s low-income clients as they navigate bankruptcy proceedings and filings. Nari Wang, who manages the VLJ’s Debt Relief Program, notes that beyond Sam’s legal experience “what sets him apart is his humility and the compassion he puts forward when interacting with clients.”
Sam has also mentored students at the Rutgers Law School Honorable Morris Stern Bankruptcy Assistance Project, which recruits and trains student and attorney volunteers who provide legal representation to low-income clients in Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases, as well as hosts community education workshops. His efforts with the Project earned Sam Rutgers Law School’s Volunteer Attorney of the Year recognition in 2021.
To his bankruptcy practice, Sam brings nearly 30 years of experience representing the interests of his clients – which include individual and corporate debtors, trustees, creditors’ committees, secured creditors, landlords and other parties – in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, debtor and creditors’ rights, and in financial restructurings and workouts both in and outside of court. He is seasoned in all aspects of Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 matters and is both a Subchapter V bankruptcy trustee and a New Jersey Bankruptcy Court approved mediator.
Sam is a graduate of Rutgers Law School and Pennsylvania State University.
