Joseph V. Saphia and Jessica H. Zafonte Join CSG Law's New York Office

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC ("CSG Law") is pleased to announce that Joseph V. Saphia and Jessica H. Zafonte have joined the firm as Members of the Litigation and Intellectual Property Groups. In addition, Joseph will head the firm’s Life Sciences Group.

The addition of Joseph and Jessica, along with Wendy R. Stein joining the firm in 2021, affirms CSG Law’s ongoing commitment to strategic growth in New York as well as in its Litigation and Intellectual Property Groups. CSG Law’s expansion of its New York presence kicked into high gear in 2020 when the Firm nearly doubled the amount of space of its state-of-the-art office at Eleven Times Square in Manhattan.

With an educational background in pharmacy and pharmacology and more than 20 years of experience representing technology start-ups, international pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer goods companies, Joseph brings a business-oriented approach to his legal practice. In addition to patent and trademark litigation, Joseph has prosecuted patents and authored opinions of counsel in various technical fields including chemical compounds, pharmaceutical formulations, methods of treatment, biological products, methods of producing biologics, genetically modified plants, methods used in genetic modifications, medical devices, food products, manufacturing processes, electrical devices, software systems, and graphic user interfaces.

Joseph earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and both his B.S., in Pharmacy, and M.S., in Pharmaceutical Science, from St. John’s University College of Pharmacy.

Additionally, Jessica, who regularly counsels clients on patent-related issues, has a broad procedural knowledge base derived from years of experience litigating complex patent cases in Federal courts and before the International Trade Commission and Patent Trial and Appeal Board, as well as representing clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a registered patent agent. Jessica’s practice also focuses on the transfer of intellectual property rights, and she routinely evaluates the scope, validity and enforceability of patent rights for clients ranging from individual inventors to large international companies.

She earned her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and her B.A. in Biology from Lafayette College.
