CSG Law Named as Law360 Regional Powerhouse for New Jersey

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (CSG Law) is pleased to announce it was one of five firms selected this year as a Law360 Regional Powerhouse for New Jersey, and, of the five, it has the largest presence of attorneys in the Garden State.

"Our growth is not by accident," said CSG Law managing member Patricia Costello, a retired state Superior Court judge who served as Essex County's assignment judge. "It's very well-thought-out and well-planned, and has been going very well. We're very happy with where we are now."

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, CSG Law has served as the lead in numerous high-profile litigation cases as well as notable real estate and development projects including: New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s creation of a film studio and the redevelopment of the area surrounding its Newark venue; American Dream, the largest mall in New Jersey and the second largest mall in the United States; and LEG-BP Bayonne, which consists of the development of a 152-acre plot in Bayonne as part of an agreement with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Due in part to the recent explosion in residential and industrial real estate development, the firm has expanded its real estate group to cover all its clients' needs, from acquisitions and financing to zoning issues and tax appeals, as part of a "cradle to grave approach."

“In the end, these acquisitions are driven by client needs — where the clients have areas that we can be more effective in, provide greater service to them in those areas,” said Jeffrey Chiesa, a member of the firm’s executive committee and a former U.S. Senator for New Jersey.

As Francis J. Giantomasi told Law360, the agreement between the Port Authority and CSG Law’s client will result in 1.2 million square feet of warehouse space and an estimated 2,700 jobs. The project serves an example, Giantomasi said, of the firm's dedication to its clients and "our ability to navigate the intricacies of business and government."

Last year, CSG Law was named New Jersey Law Journal’s “Law Firm of the Year” and its Real Estate, Development & Land Use Group earned that publication’s “Dealmakers of the Year” award.
