David J. Mairo Joins Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC

One of the most respected lawyers in environmental law, David J. Mairo, has joined Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC as a Member, the firm announced.

Mr. Mairo comes to CSG with extensive experience in counseling clients on issues of compliance, applicability and adequacy of remediation concerning the Site Remediation Reform Act and the Industrial Site Recovery Act, as well as a variety of other environmental regulatory and enforcement matters. Specifically, he represents clients in negotiations with the NJDEP, permitting, oversight of investigations and cleanups pursuant to the NJDEP Technical Requirements for Site Remediation. He also advises clients on Natural Resource Damage assessments and the implications of environmental due diligence associated with the purchase and sale of real estate, with a particular emphasis on Brownfields Redevelopment.

In moving to Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi, David Mairo joins one of the most respected environmental practices in the states of New Jersey and New York. CSG has a distinguished national and regional reputation in the areas of environmental litigation and regulatory and transactional matters for clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to individual homeowners, and has earned top honors in both Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business and U.S. News/Best Lawyers "Best Law Firm" rankings.  Mr. Mairo was formally a partner at Sedita, Campisano & Campisano, LLC.

“Environmental law is one of the most exciting, diverse and challenging areas of the law,” said Dennis Toft, co-chair of CSG’s Environmental Law Group. “As environmental issues become increasingly pervasive, so do the legal and regulatory considerations that must be dealt with by individuals and corporations within the State of New Jersey and throughout the nation. As such, our practice continues to grow, both in size and level of expertise.  As a highly respected senior player in this specialty arena, we look forward to David enhancing the depth and breadth of our flourishing environmental practice.”

Mr. Mairo brings with him a unique technical background and experience gained from seven years of environmental consulting at Dan Raviv Associates, Inc. (presently TRC Environmental Corp.), where he managed all aspects of compliance with State and Federal regulations. He has a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law and holds a B.S., in biology, from Dickinson College, as well as a M.S., in environmental science, from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

“Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi has for a very long time enjoyed a reputation for being one of the very best environmental practices in New Jersey,” said David Mairo. “It is with the greatest of pleasure that I join this dynamic and rapidly growing firm.  I look forward to working with my new colleagues in the Environmental Law Group and throughout the firm on behalf of clients who seek to navigate the complexities of environmental law that are inherent in doing business in our sophisticated marketplace.”
