Francis J. Giantomasi Elected Vice Chair of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center's Board of Trustees

Giantomasi was recently elected to serve as vice chair of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s (“NBIMC”) board of trustees. Giantomasi is widely recognized as one of New Jersey’s top real estate and redevelopment attorneys and as a prominent leader in Newark’s business community.
Over the course of three decades practicing law, Giantomasi has become a sought-after authority in planning, zoning and development law, including tax abatement law for the City of Newark and other urban areas. Serving as chief development counsel, Giantomasi has played an influential role in many of the Newark area’s most significant recent development and redevelopment projects, including the new 20-story Prudential Tower, Panasonic’s North American headquarters, the Courtyard by Marriott, the $35-million Market Street redevelopment and the development of the new 11-acre, mixed-use Springfield Avenue Marketplace.
Giantomasi has also worked closely with several county government bodies, serving as Essex County counsel, counsel to the Essex County Board of Freeholders and special counsel to the Essex County Utilities Authority. Prior to his election as vice chair of NBIMC’s board of trustees, Giantomasi served on the board as a member. He currently sits on the board of directors of the Newark Regional Business Partnership and as trustee for the Essex County Bar Association.
In addition to Giantomasi’s election to vice chair, the medical center named the following individuals to its board of trustees: Joseph Taylor, president and chief executive officer, Matrix Development Group; Nancy Cantor, chancellor, Rutgers University-Newark; Vaughn Crowe, senior program director, MJC Amelior Foundation; and Wayne Nash, senior vice president, Audible, Inc.
