Dennis Toft of Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi Named to New Jersey Institute of Technology Board of Trustees

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (“CSG”) announced that Dennis M. Toft, chair of the firm’s environmental law group, has been named to the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (“NJIT”).

One of the country’s leading public polytechnic universities, NJIT offers a multidisciplinary curriculum and computing-intensive education to its 11,400-plus student body. Comprised of both undergraduate and graduate students, the college ranked first in public universities in New Jersey and third in the state overall based on post-graduation earnings. NJIT was also named a Forbes “America’s Top College,” and was listed on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, one of the highest federal recognitions a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.

“I look forward to serving as a member of NJIT Board of Trustees and helping further the mission of this venerable institute of higher learning,” said Toft. “NJIT graduates have been among the innovation leaders in the Garden State for more than a century, and the invitation to join the governing body tasked with creating the next generation of New Jersey scientists and engineers is both an honor and a true responsibility. I am proud to join the group of talented professionals that comprise the Board, and I’m confident that the unique perspectives we each bring will help guide NJIT to continued success for decades to come.”

A resident of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, Toft is widely recognized as one of the state’s leading environmental lawyers, counseling clients on all aspects of environmental law, including regulatory counseling, environmental due diligence, permitting development/redevelopment and environmental insurance. He was recently inducted into the American College of Environmental Lawyers, a national association of preeminent environmental attorneys, and serves on the Boards of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, the New Jersey chapter of NAIOP and the New Jersey chapter of the Nature Conservancy. He is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Columbia Law School.
